The Position
Valta Energy is currently seeking an Associate to support our capital markets and project finance strategy to fund the development of renewable energy projects across the US. Working for a leader in solar energy finance and development, this role will provide valuable experience in the growing distributed solar generation industry. As a member of the Capital Markets team, the Associate will help structure, negotiate, execute, and manage project and corporate-level financings, including structured debt and tax equity transactions. Through their responsibilities on the team, the Associate will learn to work collaboratively with investors and various groups in the company and develop expertise in areas such as project level financing, debt, tax equity, and strategic finance. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and communication skill, the ability to manage multiple workstreams, and an appetite and aptitude for complex financial engineering.

Associate Responsibilities

Create and analyze financial models for individual projects and portfolios of distributed generation solar systems.
Support the structuring and execution of project finance and other capital markets transactions
Coordinate with investors, lenders, consultants, and banks to manage transaction due diligence processes.
Collaborate with colleagues across the company to meet operational and reporting requirements of transactions
Deliver ad hoc analysis to support company planning efforts and senior level decision-making in a fast-paced environment

Minimum Requirements

Undergraduate degree in finance, economics or business administration
2 or more years of experience in a project finance/capital markets role at a major financial institution or renewable energy developer and/or participation in an investment banking analyst program
Extensive financial modelling experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in renewable energy or project-level financing
Structured financing transaction experience, including debt, tax equity, securitization, etc.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Fluency in finance and valuation concepts and interpretation of financial statements
Detail-oriented, organized, with the ability to work well in fast-paced work environment
Strong work ethic and ability to research, identify and solve problems independently
Proficient in using business integrated systems, e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
