About the position

Research Triangle Institute (RTI) is a not-for-profit, independent research institute based in North Carolina, USA, with over 30 years of experience in assisting governments, communities, and the private sector. With approximately 5,000 employees, RTI has a global footprint in implementing international development projects. The Sustainable Growth & Resilience (SG&R) technical unit within the International Development Group is dedicated to addressing climate change and promoting economic growth through multisectoral programming and technical solutions. This unit combines RTI's expertise across various domains, including food security, agriculture, energy, environment, water, governance, and economic opportunity, to build resilience and respond effectively to climate challenges. RTI is currently seeking to build a roster of experienced technical experts for multiple USAID-funded programs that focus on climate change, environment, resilience, and sustainability. The positions are varied and contingent upon contract and task order awards, with locations depending on the specific project requirements. Candidates with expertise in climate change across a range of thematic areas are encouraged to submit their CVs for consideration. Key areas of focus include carbon accounting, climate adaptation planning and financing, climate change policy, disaster risk planning, climate finance, climate information services, e-mobility, energy efficiency, climate-smart agriculture, and more. Responsibilities
• Build a roster of experienced technical experts for USAID funded programs focused on climate change, environment, resilience, and sustainability.

• Engage in key thematic areas such as carbon accounting, climate adaptation planning, climate change policy, and climate disaster risk planning.
,
• Contribute to the development of climate finance strategies and climate information services.
,
• Support initiatives in e-mobility, energy efficiency, and climate-smart agriculture.
,
• Participate in projects related to urban climate change mitigation and resilience, green infrastructure development, and nature-based solutions to climate change.
,
• Collaborate with country counterparts and institutions to implement effective climate change strategies.

Requirements
• Eight or more years of professional working experience in relevant fields.

• Prior experience with USAID and working overseas with country counterparts and institutions is highly desirable.
,
• Experience working on donor-funded international development projects is encouraged.
,
• Foreign language skills are desirable.
