Job Description
TPR Enterprises LLC is seeking a Business Development Manager for Climate Smart Farm Practices in Des Moines, IA. This role focuses on achieving commercial growth targets, integrating EcoEngineers' services into client solutions, and managing client relationships. Responsibilities include sales scale-up, account management, and business development. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in a commercial or agronomy discipline, with an MBA preferred.
Position Summary:
The business development manager is a key contributor to the realization of commercial growth targets that are both stretching and strategic. The accomplishment of these strategic goals is critical to support the medium- and long-term development of Eco Engineers. This position drives towards the systematic and consistent delivery of growth through Eco's $40 - $80m revenue stage and is therefore a critically important function within the growth and development team.
The Business Development Manager delivers on a consultative style with clients, helping them chart a pathway to a low carbon future, emphasizing the integration of EcoEngineers core services into the solution and assisting in implementation when insight is required. EcoEngineers' services include developing an educational program for stakeholders, conducting feasibility analyses of different approaches and technology use options, pre-development and development consulting, carbon intensity measurement and monitoring, regulatory analysis and engagement to maximize value of carbon reduction, support construction and startup activities, and creating a superior compliance tracking, monitoring and reporting system.
This position will work cross functionally with EcoEngineers internal project teams to assess our client's needs to deliver EcoEngineers' services to the agriculture, biofuels and feed markets.
Organization:
Reports to the VP, Business Development and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities:
Focus will be directed towards the build-out of revenue generating activity in 3 distinct areas:
1. Sales scale-up (core focus)
2. Account management (productivity & relationship focus)
3. Business development (new product & revenue focus)
The business development manager will have coverage of all above listed areas, with an emphasis on business development.
Eco Engineers segments the acquisition of customer value into time horizons, with sales teams near term focused, business development (medium to longer term value) and larger key account management positioned across all horizons. The business development manager maximizes success by working closely with colleagues across the growth and development team to stock the early-stage opportunity pipeline with value, handing off to sales for conversion over time.
Primary Goals:
Our commercial system sets out that sales teams are measured on order intake (OI) and revenue. Service Area leaders and Account Managers are primarily responsible for the delivery of OI and revenue targets in sales. The business development manager will support the transfer of key revenue-generating relationships and opportunities into the sales team. 20% focus.
The business development manager will develop strategy, perform engagement and run campaigns focused on new revenue/products/services that will create revenue additional to existing sales. It is expected that some of this revenue may not materialize within a given year, and that any near-term opportunities may create proposal workflow that will be transferred to an account manager for conversion. As such, this aspect will be measured on pipeline value rather than OI or sales. 80% focus.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a commercial or agronomy discipline.
• Post graduate MBA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in a relevant strategic or developmental role; 10 years preferred.
• Established network, expertise, and 5 years of consulting experience in agriculture.
• Knowledge of Climate Smart Agriculture.
• Understanding of policies and regulations, low carbon technologies, and economics.
• Ability to build trust through public speaking, develop value propositions and perform strategic analysis.
