Job Description

MRINetwork is seeking a Business Development Manager for HVAC Energy Storage in Sacramento, CA. This role involves developing sales strategies, managing the sales cycle, and building relationships with utilities and commercial customers. The ideal candidate has B2B sales experience, preferably in HVAC or related sectors. This is a 6+ month contract position with potential for full-time, offering a salary of $60-80k plus commission.
Our client is a pioneer in commercial and industrial energy storage, using patented thermal technology to help buildings shift cooling loads to off-peak hours. By storing energy at night and discharging it during the day, their system lowers energy costs, reduces strain on the grid, and cuts greenhouse gas emissions. As demand for low-carbon, load-shifting solutions grows, the company is expanding its commercial team to bring this proven technology to more customers across Northern California.

This is a 6+ month contract role, based in the Roseville, Rocklin, or Auburn area, with the potential to convert to full-time. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in building new business with utilities, building operators, and commercial customers. This position is ideal for a motivated, hands-on sales professional with a passion for clean energy, HVAC solutions, and long-term customer relationships.

What You’ll Do:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive territory sales strategy across key accounts and channels
• Own the full sales cycle, from lead generation and qualification to deal closure, focusing on net new business
• Present compelling business cases to potential customers using ROI analysis, industry data, and case studies
• Drive strategic partnerships with field resellers and service providers to accelerate market adoption
• Accurately forecast revenue and maintain detailed CRM records (Salesforce)
• Develop a deep understanding of the company’s hardware and software offerings through structured onboarding and team collaboration
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to deliver seamless customer solutions

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Demonstrated success in enterprise or B2B sales, with a focus on new business development
• Experience selling technology-driven solutions; HVAC, solar, construction, or sustainability sector experience is a plus
• Previous field sales experience, ideally in HVAC or related industries
• Strong relationship-building skills and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
• Proactive, self-starter mentality with a passion for teamwork and learning
• Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally

Salary Range: $60-80k + Commission
