Zero Global is seeking a Business Development Manager for Commercial Rooftop Solar in London. The role involves driving growth in the renewable energy sector by engaging new commercial clients, managing the sales cycle, and collaborating with internal teams. Candidates should have 3-6+ years of relevant experience and strong knowledge of clean energy technologies. The position offers hybrid work flexibility, requiring some days in the office and client visits.
Job Title – Business Development Manager

Their Purpose – A fast-growing and exciting scale-up business commercialising cutting-edge lightweight solar PV technology for commercial buildings. The aim is to help decarbonise the built environment and provide energy security for customers through technology that is good for the planet and good for people.

Location &, flexibility –days per week in the London office, with the remaining days worked from home and client visits when required.

Salary & Benefits: Up to £85k + performance based bonus, Hybrid working, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, Cycle to work and EV salary sacrifice schemes

About the Job –

As a Business Development Manager, you will drive the growth of the company’s renewable energy pipeline by identifying, engaging and converting new commercial and industrial customers.

You will own the full sales cycle - from prospecting and qualifying opportunities to presenting solutions, coordinating proposals, and closing deals. The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring strong sector knowledge, commercial acumen and the ability to build long-term, trusted relationships.

Working closely with internal engineering, project development and commercial teams to develop tailored solutions for customers and ensure opportunities move smoothly through the pipeline.
• Identify, target and secure new business opportunities in the commercial and industrial renewable energy market
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and key industry stakeholders
• Lead customer conversations, presenting technical and commercial solutions in a clear and compelling way
• Qualify inbound leads and build a strong outbound prospecting strategy
• Coordinate proposals, pricing, and commercial models with internal teams
• Support feasibility assessments, ensuring solutions meet customer needs
• Maintain accurate CRM data, sales forecasting and pipeline reporting
• Represent the business at industry events, conferences and customer meetings
• Work cross-functionally to optimise handover processes from sales to project delivery
• Provide market insight to inform strategy, product development and commercial decision making

About you -
• 3–6+ years’ experience in business development or sales within renewable energy, energy services, sustainability or related sectors
• Proven track record of winning and developing commercial customers
• Strong understanding of clean energy technologies (e.g. Solar PV, BESS, PPAs, energy optimisation)
• Excellent communication skills - confident presenting to senior stakeholders
• Commercially analytical with the ability to build compelling value propositions
• Highly proactive, self-driven and able to manage your own pipeline
• Strong organisational skills with experience using CRM tools
• Ability to travel for client meetings across the UK
• Collaborative, relationship-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
