Job Description

Energy Alternatives India is offering a Biomass To Value Research Internship in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The role involves conducting secondary research on biomass residues, analyzing market trends, and preparing reports. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability and available for a full-time, in-office internship for two months, starting between April 13 and May 18, 2025. A stipend of ₹15,000 - 20,000/month is provided.
About the internship:
India generates over a billion tons of agricultural residues, and besides these, there are other biomass residues generated in the form of food & garden waste, forest waste, animal & human waste, etc. While some conversion paths are already followed to recover value from this waste, most of these are for low-value applications and applications like combustion, fertilizers, or at best biofuels. Many biomass residues have ingredients that, if extracted, can result in much higher value for the farmers and for our economy. At EAI, a leading climate tech strategy consulting firm, one of our key research domains is biomass to value, specifically, biomass residues to high-value products. We are looking for a couple of interns to support us in this impactful research. We are seeking a biomass-to-value research intern who, ideally, but not compulsory, has an educational background in biotech-related domains, and interests in market research, and business research to join our dynamic team. We are more keen that the candidate is passionate about working in a high-impact research and analysis domain, and can undertake independent research.

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Conduct in-depth secondary research on diverse biomass residues and their potential pathways for high-end value and products.

2. Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for biomass-residue-derived products in India and worldwide.

3. Interact with Indian and international industry experts to get their insights into biomass residue utilization.

4. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate research findings and recommendations.

5. Support the development of business plans and proposals for biomass-to-value projects.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in biomass research while contributing to the growth of the sustainability sector in India. If you are a motivated individual with a passion for sustainability, we want to hear from you!
