Safety Technician Role
We're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Technician to support the implementation of safety protocols on electrical construction sites. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial electrical work and a valid OSHA 30 certification.
This position is critical in supporting a safe and efficient work environment for our team members.
Responsibilities:
• Safety Oversight: Perform boots-on-the-ground safety oversight by identifying and correcting job site hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Site-Specific Safety Policies: Assist in the implementation and compliance of site-specific and company safety policies.
• Job Hazard Analysis: Assist in the creation of job hazard analysis (JHA) and personal protective equipment (PPE) assessments.
• Standard Operating Procedures: Review standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work practices to identify safety concerns and support the Safety Lead in conducting team safety meetings.
• Safety Audits: Conduct job site-specific safety audits using inspection forms to ensure adherence to safe work practices, such as proper PPE usage, minimizing trip hazards, and ensuring fall protection.
• EHS Events: Respond to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) events in the field, gathering preliminary details, documents, and photos to support the Safety Lead in safeguard analysis and corrective action.
• Environmental Compliance: Perform environmental compliance audits as needed.
• Unsafe Conditions: Ensure prompt notification and corrective actions for unsafe conditions found on the job site, and track EHS action items.
• Accident Investigations: Assist in accident and near-miss investigations, conducting root cause analysis when required, in collaboration with the Regional Safety Lead and Superintendent.
• Safety Documentation: Organize, file, and maintain safety documentation (e.g., training records, meeting minutes).
• Compliance with Regulations: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Requirements:
• Bilingual Proficiency: Proficiency in both English and Spanish (fluent in speaking, reading, and writing).
• Electrical Experience: Minimum of 3 years of electrical construction experience.
• OSHA Certification: OSHA 30 Construction certification required.
• CPR and First Aid: CPR and First Aid certifications required.
• Emergency Response: Ability to respond rapidly to employee health emergencies and activate emergency procedures.
• Safety Knowledge: Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Hazard Recognition: Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures.
• Communication Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Prioritization: Ability to manage shifting priorities and follow through on projects with minimal direction.
• Confidentiality: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
