Introduction/Job Purpose:
The Beach Monitoring Program Coordinator manages and coordinates the coastal recreational waters (beach) water quality advisory program to ensure compliance with State regulations and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Water Act (CWA). The Beach Monitoring Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing coastal recreational water quality monitoring efforts including data management and reporting, coordinating sampling logistics with DES regional offices, and collaborating with Federal, State, and Local partners to continue to build and maintain the coastal recreational waters advisory alert network. The Beach Monitoring Program Coordinator will also assist the Section and Division with routine field monitoring activities. This position requires the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally.
Job Duties:
• Coordinates the coastal recreational waters (beach) monitoring program, including data management, reporting, and maintenance of the Beach Monitoring Program Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP).
• Coordinates the implementation of a statewide policy for notification of the public when contamination of coastal recreational waters is detected.
• Assist the Section and Division with special studies and routine field monitoring.
• Other duties as assigned by Section and Division management.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field; or an associate degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and two (2) years of environmental health or related experience; or high school diploma and four (4) years of environmental health or related experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field. Working knowledge of R statistical software. Ability to operate various types of boats and boat trailers.
