About the position

The Battery Energy Storage System Technician I position at AES Corporation is a critical role within the Clean Energy Field Operations team, focusing on the operation and maintenance of utility-scale and distribution-scale energy storage systems. This position is designed for individuals who are self-starters and can effectively take direction from Field Service leads. As AES continues to grow and solidify its position as a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the energy sector, this role offers significant opportunities for professional development and career advancement. The technician will be expected to prepare and implement switching for high voltage (HV), medium voltage (MV), and low voltage (LV) equipment, while adhering to established safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols. The role requires operating electrical and mechanical power plant systems, participating in necessary training (which may involve limited travel), and performing technical and administrative duties related to the operation and maintenance of the power plant. Additionally, the technician may assist with site vegetation management and will be responsible for writing and assisting with various plant documents, including Plant Orders and Operating Instructions. The technician must ensure compliance with NERC standards while operating the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility and must perform all work in accordance with environmental and safety requirements.
