Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking a Level 2 Automation Engineer for their metals production team in Brandenburg, KY. Automation Level 2 Engineer – Rolling Mill Modelling (Metals Industry)

Location: Brandenburg, KY

We are seeking a Level 2 Automation Engineer with deep expertise in mathematical process control to join our client’s advanced metals production team. This role focuses on developing, refining, and commissioning Level 2 automation models that control rolling mill operations for multiple subprocesses.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop, calibrate, and optimise Level 2 automation models for rolling mills, focusing on accurate rolling theory and material property calculations.
• Apply engineering physics and mathematical modelling to predict forces, speeds, and process parameters across multiple rolling stages.
• Analyse and manage large data sets to improve model accuracy, working within existing data limitations.
• Collaborate with commissioning teams to integrate models into production systems.
• Work closely with OEMs to align control models with equipment performance.

Required Skills & Experience
• Proven Level 2 automation experience (metals/steel rolling mills experience is a plus)
• Strong theoretical knowledge and ability to apply engineering physics principles preferred.
• Experience with mathematical modelling and process simulation.
• Familiarity with OEM systems.
• Data analytics skills for process optimisation.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related discipline.

Preferred
• Commissioning and optimisation of rolling mill models in a production environment.
• Metals/steel rolling mills experience
