Qcells is seeking an Associate Solutions Engineer for Energy Storage & Microgrids in San Francisco, CA. This role involves supporting customers with project designs and technical specifications of energy storage solutions. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and experience in renewable energy systems. While primarily office-based, remote work may be considered for exceptional cases.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Solutions Engineer, Energy Storage and Microgrids, assists our customers and partners in understanding the specifications and capabilities of Qcells’ energy storage and microgrid solutions, supporting them in project designs, and making use of those solutions to achieve their requirements in a safe, cost-effective, and compliant manner. Reporting to the Solutions Engineer, this position will be the customer-facing technical expert on the capabilities of the solutions. This position will be based out of our San Francisco office, with an in-office schedule set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with the Company policies and procedures. Remote options could be considered for exceptional cases.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as the customer-facing expert on the technical specifications, capabilities, and design considerations of the Qcells’ energy storage and microgrid solutions.
• Support sales representatives in technical engagement with customers.
• Help sales representatives swiftly triage opportunities to determine which ones are suitable for the Qcells’ solution suite.
• Help customers and partners scope, size, and budget for energy storage and microgrid projects.
• Support customers and partners by reviewing and providing comment on electrical system diagrams, incorporating energy storage and microgrid control.
• Develop and review microgrid sequences of operation for customer projects.
• Create and maintain reference designs, reference sequence of operations, and an approved vendor list (AVL) for third party and balance of plant equipment for use by customers.
• Review customer single line diagrams to ensure they are appropriately integrated with Qcells technologies suites.
• Interface with suppliers to build and maintain a knowledge base around the technical capabilities of their systems.
• Maintain internal documentation and FAQs to help build capability across the organization.
• Engage and manage external technical consultants when necessary.
• Stay up to date on relevant national and state codes, regulations, and standards.
• Stay abreast with the newest battery energy storage technologies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Understanding and passion for renewable energy systems.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in supporting designs in Commercial & Industrial Behind-the-Meter (BTM) and Front-of-the-Meter (FTM) renewable energy systems, incorporating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and microgrids.
• Understanding of single-line and three-line diagrams of electrical systems.
• Mid-level AutoCAD LT proficiency, drafting Single Line Diagrams, Communications Diagrams, and General Arrangement Drawings.
