Associate Scientist

Description
The Associate Scientist has a science background who conducts research, collects data, analyzes samples, and supports environmental projects. The individual will work under the guidance of a senior scientist, providing technical support on environmental issues and other project needs. Additionally, they will be responsible for the completion of an assigned project or a sequent of a project on time and within budget consistent with CME’s quality standards and the client’s satisfaction.

Responsibilities
• Perform Statistical analysis of environmental data.
• Provide information and technical program assistance to government representatives, employers and the general public on the issues of public health, environmental protection or workplace safety.
• Collect samples of gases, soils, water, industrial wastewater, and asbestos products to conduct tests on pollutant levels and identify sources of pollution.
• Help prepare detailed reports, presentations, and publications on environmental findings, presenting complex scientific data to a wide range of stakeholders or other assigned project elements.
• Keep Supervisor apprised of all progress issues.
• Assist others when requested.
• Assist in preparation of proposals.
• Represent firm at meetings/conferences with clients or contractors.

Qualifications
Experience:
• 0 to 3 years of experience

Education and Certifications:
• B.S. in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences relevant

Skills:
• Entry level knowledge of environmental engineering, technical engineering, planning, surveying, or landscape architectural skills
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Company personnel policies and procedures
• Organization and start-up procedures of projects
• Specific technical calculations necessary for the departmental assignments
• Municipal and government structures, laws, and business procedures in jurisdiction of projects assigned
• Project profit mechanism
