Join Arup as an Associate Principal Engineer, where you will contribute to a diverse range of civil infrastructure projects by providing expert design, and consulting services. You will play a key role in supporting the Civil team Manager to lead and grow the drainage and flooding disciplines within a profitable civil engineering business aligned with Arup’s strategic goals. This role involves design and technical leadership, business development, client relationship management, and achieving technical excellent as part of a team delivering complex civil engineering projects from conception to completion.

The Opportunity
• Lead the technical delivery of the drainage and flooding discipline’s, staff development, and promote continuous learning.
• Support and drive the overall project delivery and performance as part of the civil team management.
• Represent Arup nationally and internationally at client and industry meetings, building strong relationships.
• Contribute, develop and implement long-term business plans, secure major contracts, and oversee technical delivery and financial performance of projects.
• Manage drainage flooding on small, medium and large civil engineering projects ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards.

Is this role right for you?
• A recognised degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered Status with a relevant professional institution.
• Extensive experience in civil infrastructure design including roads, drainage, water, sewer, and WSUD.
• Proficiency with design software such as 12D, Microstation, or AutoCAD; hydraulic modelling skills are a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
• Resilience, motivation, and leadership qualities to perform effectively under pressure and inspire your team.
