SCS Engineers is hiring an Associate Environmental Scientist in Tempe, AZ, to support environmental projects. Responsibilities include sampling, data analysis, and project coordination. The role starts with 4 days in-office, with potential for more remote work later. Candidates should have a BS in Environmental Science and relevant experience. SCS Engineers is looking for a Associate Scientist to support our environmental services projects from our Phoenix office. Our typical environmental service projects include site investigation, remediation, spill response and real estate due diligence services for commercial, municipal and industrial clients. This position is expected to start 4 days/week in the office with more flexibility for remote work after getting situated.

You will assist senior project team members in meeting client goals by efficiently completing sampling, data analysis, reporting, and other project tasks as assigned. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
• Participate in sample collection activities at various environmental and solid waste sites. Coordinate sampling activities with laboratories to provide timely analysis of samples. Troubleshoot issues when necessary.
• Review laboratory and/or field data and prepare data summaries (tables, graphs, groundwater flow maps) as needed.
• Identify and troubleshoot potential operation and maintenance (O&M) issues with soil and groundwater remediation systems.
• Arrange for, coordinate and document subcontractors efforts in periodic O&M of remediation systems.
• Compile or review routine and non-routine regulatory submittals or technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to applicable regulatory and/or client requirements.
• Assist in the planning and execution of field work; coordinate work with other staff as needed.
• Complete quality control reviews on all work products (reports, data, etc.) prior to submission.
• Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Sience or related science required.
• Minimum of 3 months of relevant engineering internship, work and/r research experience required.
• Experience with GIS and/or database management preferred.
• Experience with federal and state regulatory interpretation and compliance preferred.
• Completion of (or willingness to complete) a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training and annual refresher training required.
• Ability to perform fieldwork including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time required. Up to 30% of time will be spent in the field. Some travel with limited overnight stays can be expected. Some extended project fieldwork may be required.

USD $60,000.00 - USD $85,000.00 /Yr.
