Associate, Project Finance and Financial Modelling

Globeleq is hiring an Associate for Project Finance and Financial Modelling in South Africa, specifically in Cape Town, Johannesburg, or London. The role involves supporting transaction execution, business development, and financial modeling for power projects across Africa. Key responsibilities include managing complex project finance models for various transactions. Globeleq is a major independent power producer focused on diverse energy technologies.

With nearly 1900MW of generation capacity in operation across 17 power plants in 7 countries, 485MW of new power projects in construction and >2,000MW in development, Globeleq is one of the largest independent power producers solely focused in Africa. Globeleq is 70% owned by British International Investment and 30% by Norfund, the development finance institutions of the UK and Norway, and has a proven track record for supporting the ongoing development of the African power sector.

Globeleq’s various generation technologies include gas, wind, solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and geothermal. The company is also actively pursuing new opportunities which are emerging from the energy transition, including desalination projects powered by renewables, as well as green hydrogen and ammonia projects.

We are now hiring an Associate, Project Finance and Financial Modelling. The role is part of the Project Finance and Financial Modelling team and is responsible for supporting transaction execution, business development, financing and corporate initiatives. One of the role’s key responsibilities is to own and run complex project finance models for transactions in various stages of development, ranging from M&A transactions to early-stage opportunity assessment and execution and financial close of complex project financings in Africa.

This role can be based in our Cape Town, Johannesburg or London offices.
