Job Description

The Associate – Strategic Development & Initiatives position at Clean Energy Finance Corporation in Melbourne involves supporting decarbonisation strategies and initiatives. About the opportunity

This role will support the CEFC in focusing on medium – longer term decarbonisation opportunities to help the CEFC maximise its impact across the energy and climate transition. As a key resource supporting this strategic initiative, the role will liaise across the origination teams to support the development, design and communication of cross functional strategies as well as support the identification of new opportunities for the CEFC to amplify impact. This role will undertake targeted primary / secondary research and analysis, support the framing up and structuring up of focus areas and problems, as well as support the development of key recommendations and communication materials under this initiative.

The role you will play

As an Associate – Strategic Development & Initiatives, you will be responsible for:
• Supporting the development of a strategic prioritisation framework to identify higher priority medium – longer term decarbonisation thematics
• For identified areas of priority, work closely and collaboratively with the Origination teams to define, frame up and structure focus areas
• Support the coordination of the development, design and communication of cross-functional strategies, and / or strategies for thematics
• Work with the Associate Director - Strategic Development & Initiatives, Origination and Research teams in developing up problem statements, hypotheses to be tested and workplans, and in doing so identify further research / consulting needs.
• Support the structuring of internal / external research & consulting projects, in collaboration with the research team
• Where necessary, undertake targeted desktop research and analysis to support the development & design of strategies, including underpinning recommendations / strategic initiatives
• Support interactions / discussions with key external stakeholders including but not limited to, supporting a programmatic approach to test and refine key strategic themes, hypotheses and recommendations
• Support the identification of recommendations of key initiatives around prioritised areas of focus that the CEFC could undertake in addition to current activities to accelerate investability to drive accelerated emissions abatement.
• Support the articulation of priorities regarding leadership initiatives, strategic focus areas for transactions, resourcing needs, capital requirements, policy / regulatory engagement.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in either a financial services, consulting, corporate or government business
• Prior demonstrated experience gained in a management consulting, strategy consulting, or in-house corporate strategy environment
• Understanding of the Australian energy and climate sectors
• Knowledge of clean energy markets and an understanding of the drivers of clean energy investment
• Experience developing, managing and sustaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet business objectives
• Proven relationship management skills with demonstrated ability to be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders
