Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Environmental Biology or a related field, with teaching experience in general biology, ecology, evolution, and zoology. Description of primary duties and responsibilities:

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The
Department of Biological and Forensic Sciences is an
academic unit within the Lloyd College of Health, Science, and
Technology, seeking to serves a diverse student body, including
military and international students, through effective teaching,
active scholarship, and service-learning activities. The Department
of Biological and Forensic Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in
Biology with concentrations in pre-health, organismal biology, or
molecular biology/biotechnology as well as a Bachelor of Science in
in Forensic Sciences. The Department offers a minor program in
Biology and Biotechnology. The Department has more than four
hundred enrolled undergraduate students and seventeen (17) tenured,
tenure-track, or lecturer faculty members. The Department of
Biological and Forensic Science mission is to provide high quality,
student-centered academic programs, and courses in the sciences at
the undergraduate level. In addition, the department provides each
student with the opportunity to broaden his/her knowledge before
deciding on a specific profession and being committed to the
discovery and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of
Biological Sciences. Our diverse faculty prepares students through
education, research, and outreach programs to become critical
thinkers. Our highly qualified faculty are driven to prepare
students for careers in government, industry, health-related
professions, education, and to pursue further study in graduate or
professional schools. The Department strives to develop abilities
and values to serve our regional, national, international, and
military communities, and create a nurturing and learning
environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Description of Work Continued:

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Department of Biological and Forensic Sciences invites
applicants for a tenure track position as an Assistant of
Environmental Biology effective Fall 2025. The successful applicant
will have a Ph.D. in Environmental Biology or a closely related
field. Experience teaching general biology, ecology, evolution, and
zoology at an undergraduate/graduate university and/or community
college will be a plus. The ideal applicant will have experience
teaching undergraduate courses such as

general biology, ecology, evolution, and zoology, developing and
teaching new courses in the Biology Program, advising/mentoring
students, serving in department, college, and university
committees, and assisting in building and maintaining professional
relationships with local, regional, and national organizations. In
addition, the candidate is expected to establish an active,
externally funded research program involving undergraduate
students. New tenure-track assistant professors will receive a 20%
reduction in annual teaching effort during the first two years of
their

probationary employment

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

A PhD degree and training or experience in Environmental Biology or
a closely related field is required. Experience teaching Biology
courses at an undergraduate/graduate university and/or community
college is preferred..

of teaching, research, and service commensurate with the rank of
tenure-

track Assistant Professor. Demonstrated commitment to student
