Lady Moon Farms is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager for its Pennsylvania operations, focusing on organic production and sustainable practices. Responsibilities include managing seed-to-transplant programs, crop rotation, pest control, and team leadership. The role requires 5+ years in vegetable and organic production, management experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The position is full-time, in-person, with an average of 55-60 hours per week, including weekends.

Overview:

Lady Moon Farms, founded in 1988, is seeking an experienced Assistant Farm Manager to support its Pennsylvania operations. This role focuses on enhancing organic production while upholding our commitment to sustainable practices. Key responsibilities include managing seed-to-transplant programs, hoop house plans, crop rotation, pest and disease control, and team leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create/implement a seed to transplant program for PA production.
• Create/implement a hoop house plan to extend the PA production season.
• Review and improve farm processes (fertilization, spraying, etc.).
• Ensure proper procedures and documentation (SOPs) are followed.
• Plan crop rotation.
• Scout fields for pests/diseases and adjust spray programs.
• Review soil samples and consultant recommendations.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years’ experience in vegetable production, organic production preferred
• Experience growing transplants from seed in greenhouses and covered agriculture
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
• Management experience, capable of leading a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel spreadsheets
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or other applicable field (preferred but not required). Experience could supersede degree
• Experience driving and operating farm machinery and equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Detail oriented with experience in record keeping and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively
• Ability to jump into different tasks to help out other team members and do whatever is needed to get the job done
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record for company insurance carrier

Reporting Relationship

Reports directly to the President and coordinates daily with;
• Farm Directors
• Farm and Packhouse Managers, as well as line workers
• Crew Leaders
• HR
• Office Support

Typical Working Conditions:

Based primarily in Pennsylvania during the growing season (April to October). Must be comfortable with exposure to a variety of climates and agricultural environments.

PA: season starts April 1st (first harvest mid to late May) and extends through October

FL: season starts early August (first harvest mid September) and extends through mid-May the following year.
