Lady Moon Farms is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager in Punta Gorda, FL, to enhance data-driven decision-making and trial management for organic practices. Responsibilities include data management, productivity analysis, and designing experimental trials to improve crop yields. The role requires 5+ years of experience in vegetable production, bilingual skills, and proficiency in farm software. The position is full-time, with an average of 55-60 hours per week, including weekends.

Overview:

Lady Moon Farms, founded in 1988, is seeking an experienced Assistant Farm Manager to support its Florida operations. Lady Moon Farms is seeking a detail-oriented professional to enhance our data-driven decision-making and trial management capabilities in Florida. This role is crucial for optimizing our organic practices, improving crop yields, and ensuring the highest quality produce. The ideal candidate will leverage data analysis and rigorous trial management to drive continuous improvement across our Florida operations, contributing directly to our commitment to sustainable agriculture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Data Management: enter, maintain and analyze detailed farm record notes
• Use Excel to record and analyze field data that can be used for real time and future decision making
• Implementation and Execution of Farm Input and Labor Management Software
• Analyze productivity reporting including piece rates by task and sharing this information with individuals and leadership
• Continuous Improvement: Design and implement experimental plots trials to test and track new production methodologies, with the goal of increasing overall productivity and product output and Study industry standards and benchmarks to inform production best practices and productivity goals.
• Collect data and information needed for reporting and make sure it is submitted timely and accurately
• Trials may include plant populations, new varieties, new production methods, new inputs, etc.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience in vegetable production, organic production preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
• Management experience, capable of leading a team
• Experience using Farm Software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel spreadsheets
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or other applicable field (preferred but not required). Experience could supersede degree
• Experience driving and operating farm machinery and equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Detail oriented with experience in record keeping and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively
• Ability to jump into different tasks to help out other team members and do whatever is needed to get the job done
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record for company insurance carrier

Reporting Relationship

Reports directly to the President and coordinates daily with;
• Farm Directors
• Farm and Packhouse Managers, as well as line workers
• Crew Leaders
• HR
• Office Support

Typical Working Conditions:

Based in Punta Gorda, FL, with potential travel to Pennsylvania. Must be comfortable with exposure to a variety of climates and agricultural environments.

PA: season starts April 1st (first harvest mid to late May) and extends through October

FL: season starts early August (first harvest mid September) and extends through mid-May the following year.
