Job Description

Semiserve is seeking an Assistant Environmental Scientist in Atlanta, GA, to assist with environmental studies, permit applications, and data analysis for projects like high-voltage transmission lines and solar facilities. Responsibilities include conducting field surveys, preparing technical reports, supporting site investigations, and participating in compliance audits. A Bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field is required, along with strong analytical skills and familiarity with GIS. This is a contractor position.
Position Overview: The Assistant Environmental Scientist will support environmental and siting studies, assist in preparing permit applications, and analyze environmental data for diverse projects, including high-voltage transmission lines and solar facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct field surveys and assessments, collecting data for environmental impact analyses.
• Contribute to the development of technical reports, environmental impact statements, and field studies.
• Assist in using GIS data for map production, adhering to best practices and standards.
• Support environmental site investigations, erosion control activities, and subsurface soil sampling.
• Participate in environmental compliance audits.
• Help prepare various permitting applications, including those for air quality, land use, and cultural resources.
• Assist with site selection studies and related NEPA documentation preparation.
• Adhere to company and site safety policies.
• Perform other assigned duties and comply with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related natural science field from an accredited institution is required.
• A GPA of 3.0 or higher is strongly preferred.
• Internship experience or prior fieldwork in natural sciences is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills for both verbal and written technical information.
• Basic knowledge of environmental site assessment and compliance audit procedures.
• Familiarity with the environmental permitting process.
• Experience with GPS technology and the ArcGIS desktop environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must meet the company's vehicle driving standards as outlined in its Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
• A valid driver's license is required.
