Job Description

The Commonwealth of Virginia is hiring an Assistant Attorney General for the Environmental Section in Richmond, VA. The role involves advising and representing state agencies, drafting legal documents, and appearing in court. Candidates should have at least one year of relevant legal experience, strong communication skills, and must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar. Job Duties

The attorney in this position will provide assistance to the other lawyers in the Environmental Section including advising and representing state natural resources agencies. This attorney will research and draft pleadings for civil, criminal, and appellate courts and will appear in court.

Minimum Qualifications
• Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of relevant experience, including first and second chair trial work in state courts.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills, technical drafting skills and the ability to analyze and manage complex cases and transactions.
• Practice areas may include environmental, administrative, wildlife, energy, and transactional law.
• All candidates must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar.
