Job Description
The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada is seeking an Architect for Environmental/Urban Planning in London, UK. The role involves sealing architectural designs for residential and commercial projects, ensuring code compliance, and managing relationships with stakeholders. Candidates should have at least 10 years of construction experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in relevant software. The Architect is responsible for sealing the architectural design of residential and commercial projects, while supporting the Design team with respect to code compliance and constructability. Possessing strong knowledge of Building Codes and Construction Methods, the role will foster positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external consulting professionals.
This position will be located in Campbell River.

Your contributions to the team:
• Learn and be mentored by our current resident Architect, and prepare to take over the role of sealing our plans.
• Become a credited Architect in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.
• Provide support of the design and engineering workflow for all projects.
• Continually monitor the active projects, and ensure plans and specifications are being followed correctly.
• Liaise with City Planners and Inspectors as required to respond to BP Submittal comments.
• Deliver Drawings and Specifications for the submittal of the Building Permit Application.
• Manage relationships with all external engineering consultants.
• Adhere to document management policies and procedures, using provided software.
• Maintain a high level of competency of all relevant software through continual training, research, workshop, seminar attendance, and train this among the design staff.
• Ensure proper documentation of all work, products, and relevant activities.
• Maintain strong teamwork qualities and be able to constantly prioritize and look for efficiencies and improvements in the process.
What you need to be successful:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak with all levels of the organization and convey technical information in a non-technical manner where required.
• Proven ability to conduct presentations.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and various other construction documentation.
• Analytical and creative thinker with the ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
• Registered Architect in a Canadian Province.
• Proficiency with BIM, CAD, and REVIT applications.
• Knowledge of the National Building Code, Provincial Building Codes, Energy Code/Step Code.
