Green Diamond Resource Co is hiring an Aquatic Biologist I for a full-time position in California, focusing on Fisheries and Hydrology. Overview:
We are seeking an Aquatic Biologist to join our team in a unique full-time position working in both Fisheries and Hydrology. As an Aquatic Biologist, you will be responsible for conducting field work, collecting and analyzing data, and working closely with our research team to advance our understanding of aquatic ecosystems. Responsibilities:
• Conduct fish monitoring and assessment in conjunction with the California Aquatic Habitat Conservation Plan (AHCP)
• Check and maintain out-migrant traps for juvenile salmonids, deploy and retrieve water temperature sensors, and assist in surveying long-term channel monitoring reaches
• Conduct snorkel and electro-fishing surveys for juvenile salmonids
• Collect stream discharge measurements, sediment samples, and water samples for suspended sediment and turbidity monitoring
• Conduct analysis of water samples in the lab and assist in the maintenance of rain gauges and weather stations
• Enter data into field tablets and download into our databases for use by our research team
• Work primarily in the field using four-wheel drive vehicles and hiking to get the work done
• Use GPS, maps, and situational awareness to navigate in challenging terrain and weather conditions
• *Qualifications:**
• Bachelor's degree in fisheries, biology, hydrology, geology, watershed management, or related programs
• Effective at using GPS, maps, and situational awareness to navigate in challenging terrain and weather conditions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong work ethic and aptitude to learn new skills
• Experience with fieldwork, data collection, and analysis

• Hourly wage range with progression levels: $23.00 to $29.61
