Application Engineer – Solar PV

Johnson Controls is hiring an Application Engineer – Solar PV in Pune, Maharashtra. Responsibilities include reviewing project inputs, performing PV system design using PVsyst, managing meteorological data, and conducting economic evaluations like ROI and NPV. The role requires a BE/ME/M.Tech in a relevant field and 3 to 7 years of experience in Solar PV design. Proficiency in PVsyst and leadership skills are essential.
Responsibilities:-

Review project inputs, drawings, and specifications; should be able to capture the scope and understand the complete requirements of the project.
Review the geographical site location and understand the site details.
Manage and organize meteorological data.
Perform ‘Preliminary design’ in PVsyst for pre-sales activities. Perform ‘Project Design’ including thorough PV-system design and performance analysis.
Perform Grid connected, Stand-alone, Pumping and DC-grid connected systems design and simulation in PVsyst.
Understand and manage plane orientation like fixed tilted plane, multi-orientations etc.
Understand and work on Bifacial systems, concentrating systems, PV array electric behavior.
Understand and work on Far shadings described by a ‘horizon’ line, Near shadings produced by near objects. Perform 3D shading scene analysis.
Understand and work on the load of the system like unlimited load, fixed constant load, monthly values etc.
In Grid connected systems understand and work on sub-arrays, multi-MPPT inverters, PV modules, strings, module or string optimizers, array voltage sizing, inverter power sizing.
Perform array and system losses calculations like incidence angle losses, soiling losses, irradiance losses, thermal losses, ohmic wiring losses etc.
Perform and interpret ‘Simulations, Reports, Economic Evaluation and Parametric Studies’. Manage variants. Perform P50 – P90 evaluations.
In economic evaluation work on financial parameters like ROI, Payback period and NPV of the system.
Understand and work on different PVsyst tools, Optimization tool, ageing tool, and measured data analysis tools.
Understand and work on equipment library of PV modules, Inverters, batteries, generators, and pumps.
Co-ordination with customer and able to propose a solution for the project and is responsible to ensure that projects are executed within the committed schedule and cost to meet the customer requirements.
Perform all project management activities like project review/Kick-Off meetings, maintaining timesheets, on time deliveries, quality assurance etc.
Helping estimation team for critical estimation support.
Mentor and train project team members and closely work with manager to provide necessary trainings based on gap.
Keep operational parameters at desired level for all assigned projects.
Active participation in organization employee engagement initiatives.

Qualification And Experience:-

BE/ME/M.tech (Electrical / Mechanical/ Structural /Solar Energy)
3 to 7 years of relevant experience as Solar PV system designer.
Must have thorough experience on software’s like PVsyst and HelioScope.
Must have experience in Solar energy.
The candidate would be required to act as a consultant providing consultancy services mainly in the field of EPC for renewable energy and Solar PV system design.
Must be a quick learner & should have a keen eye for problem solving.
Proficient in written and verbal communication.
Ability to demonstrate good leadership skills.
Rooftop Solar PV system design for Industrial manufacturers’ experience will be preferred.
AutoCAD experience will be preferred.
System Advisor Model (SAM), HOMER software experience is preferred.
Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) life cycle experience will be preferred.
