Job Description

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is seeking an Analyst for its Climate Strategy and Delivery team in London. The role involves supporting the development of green finance methodologies, coordinating assessments, and managing data related to green operations. Responsibilities include reviewing project documentation, contributing to working groups, and mentoring junior colleagues. Candidates should have relevant technical qualifications and experience in green finance and data analysis.
Purpose of Job The objective of this operationalfocused role is to support the team in the Climate Strategy andDelivery department responsible for: (1) development of greenfinance related methodologies; (2) Coordinating green assessmentsas part of EBRD project cycle to ensure they are in line with Banksstrategies and policies; and (3) Tracking and reporting greenoperations data, including those related to impact, up to signing.The position holder will support methodological development relatedto green finance, CSDs quality assurance and data managementprocesses, and Bank teams to structure investments in line with theBanks green related approaches. Accountabilities &Responsibilities - Support green finance related methodologicaldevelopment, including: - Preparing methodological revisions andmanaging internal and external consultation processes. - Reviewingleading external green finance related approaches in order toinform the Banks work. - Contribute to working groups and expertbodies focused on green finance. - Support quality application ofthe Banks green finance approaches by: - Reviewing projectdocumentation to ensure consistency with the Banks Green assessmentapproaches, with a particular focus on data completeness,transparency and correctness - Providing technicial support to Bankteams in applying methodologies in order they are appliedcorrectly, including around impact assessment and green financetaxonomies. - Maintain a database of lessons learned in applicationto inform improvied operational practice - Inputting to the Bankscapacity building efforts with clients. - Support operationalprocess and data management activites related to green finance: -Reviewing green related operational processes and developingsolutions for improvement and optimisation. - Support green relateddigitlisation efforts, including the use of external tools anddatabases around impact measurment, climate resillience and nature.- Taking leadership and mentoring junior colleagues to supporttheir development, growth and further understanding of the Bankscore duties - Other ad hoc duties as required. Knowledge, Skills,Experience & Qualifications - Relevant degree in a technicaldiscipline (e.g. engineering, economics, finance); a combination oftechnical and commercial skills is advantageous. - Relevant,technical and commercial work experience gained from: i) anengineering and/or consultancy organisation; or ii) a companyoperating in the real economy (for example, energy, chemical ormanufacturing sectors); or iii) a bank, equity fund, advisoryservices, corporate finance firm - including other DevelopmentFinance Institutions;. - Knowledge and experience with greenfinance initiatives applied in the infrastructure, corporate andfinancial institution sectors. - Technical understanding of greenfinance related approaches, including impact measurement. -Excellent skills in data analysis and attention to detail. - Proventrack record in managing consultants and related assignments,including the implementation of IT-based solutions. - Soundunderstanding of business and finance principles - Goodunderstanding of policy analysis and policy formulation in theareas of climate change, nature, resource efficiency, energyefficiency and technology transfer. - Experience in emergingmarkets, including EBRD countries of operations. - Computerliteracy and excellent written/oral communication skills in Englishare essential; other languages from the EBRD region areadvantageous - Ability to operate consistently within businessguidelines and ethics and work sensitively in multiculturalenvironments, building effective working relations with clients andcolleagues. - Self-motivated, ability to work to and meet tightdeadlines and to plan and organise work unsupervised in a logicaland efficient manner. - Ability to communicate appropriate, conciseand accurate information in verbal and written formats, appropriateto the audience at the time.
