Job Description

Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking a current student for a part-time Analyst role focused on carbon accounting for final-year fashion collections. The position involves researching emissions data related to textiles, collaborating with students and professionals, and applying carbon accounting methodologies. Candidates should have strong analytical skills and an interest in sustainability. This role is only available to students based in the UK and is not remote.
The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.,
• Research and compile emissions data related to textiles, fabrics, dyes, trims, and accessories used in fashion production.
• Work with fashion students and technical services to understand material sourcing and production processes.
• Identify and apply carbon accounting methodologies to assess environmental impact and generate a carbon footprint.
• Liaise with industry and government professionals, suppliers, and databases to verify emissions factors.

We are piloting an exciting project to carbon account the final-year fashion collections, assessing the environmental impact of textiles and accessories used by students in their design and production. We are seeking a motivated student to conduct fact-finding research and calculate emissions factors for various materials., This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirement:
• UG or PG but must be studying a degree or research active in the the concepts of carbon accounting, (this role would be best suited to students from Science and engineering or Strategy Enterprise and Sustainability).
• Strong analytical and research skills, with an interest in carbon accounting and life cycle assessment.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, LCA) or willing to research these areas. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainability within the fashion industry while contributing to an innovative project.

Date(s): 17 March to 19 May Hours of Work: Flexible up to a Max 100 hours about 1 day per week Details of briefing/training (if relevant): First week a meeting will be required to introduce the project and Weekly 30 min updates.
