Job Description

The City of Atlanta is hiring a Sustainability Program Manager for the Department of Aviation to lead sustainability initiatives at the airport. About the position

The City of Atlanta Department of Aviation is seeking a Sustainability Program Manager to lead and coordinate various sustainability initiatives within the airport. This role involves overseeing projects related to carbon accreditation, recycling, water conservation, and energy efficiency, while providing strategic guidance to leadership on sustainability matters. The ideal candidate will excel in stakeholder engagement and develop effective strategies to ensure successful program outcomes.

Responsibilities
• Lead the delivery of sustainability projects with internal and external stakeholders including airlines, policymakers, NGOs, and academia.

• Establish schedules, priorities, and standards for the organization, reviewing operations for efficiency and effectiveness.

• Maintain program review and monitor trends related to sustainability initiatives.
,
• Assess the impact of sustainability programs established by the Department of Aviation.
,
• Monitor work objectives and performance of contractors and staff in achieving sustainability goals.
,
• Coordinate various sustainability programs, including recycling and energy conservation efforts.
,
• Assist the Director in managing staff associated with environmental construction projects.
,
• Establish work methods, timetables, and performance standards for sustainability initiatives.
,
• Coordinate applications for federal, state, and other grants to support sustainability efforts.
,
• Conduct strategic planning for sustainability programs, including procurement and contract development.
,
• Manage teams engaged in sustainability projects and create an efficient team environment.
,
• Interface with and manage vendors and contractors for sustainability programs.
,
• Monitor, measure, and report on project status to the Sustainability team and leadership.
,
• Accountable for strategic goals including project completion efficiency, timeline adherence, and resource management.
,
• Assist in developing and implementing training sessions and awareness campaigns on sustainability practices.

Requirements
• Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods.

• Knowledge of engineering or sustainability-related fields.

• Knowledge of construction as well as environmental laws, regulations, and terminology.

• Outstanding leadership and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.

• Skill in operating a computer and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.

• Ability to plan, organize, and complete assigned tasks on time.

• Ability to work and coordinate with various government agencies.

• Ability to comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the department.
