Agroforestry Project Intern

Varaha is seeking an Agroforestry Project Intern in Gurugram, India, to assist with agroforestry and regenerative agriculture projects. Responsibilities include designing agroforestry models, supporting field teams, monitoring tree health, and coordinating with local stakeholders. Candidates should have a background in horticulture or agriculture and be willing to work in remote project areas. This hands-on role offers experience in climate-smart farming and exposure to the carbon credit ecosystem.
We are looking for a motivated Agroforestry Projects Intern with a background in horticulture or agriculture to support the implementation and monitoring of on-ground agroforestry and regenerative agriculture interventions. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for candidates eager to learn about climate-smart farming, carbon projects, and working with rural communities.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the design and planning of agroforestry models tailored to local agro-climatic conditions
• Support field teams in farmer mobilization, training, and planting activities
• Conduct site visits to monitor planting progress, tree health, and survival rates
• Collect field data on tree growth, spacing, species performance, and soil health indicators
• Help maintain records and logs for plantation audits and carbon reporting
• Coordinate with local stakeholders including farmer producer groups and NGOs
• Provide feedback to project managers on field challenges and help co-develop solution

Qualifications
• Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
• Field Orientation: Strong interest in on-ground implementation of agroforestry and regenerative agriculture.
• Language: Working knowledge of Hindi or Telugu
• Tech Comfort: Elementary understanding of MS Excel / Google Sheets; familiarity with mobile data collection tools is a plus
• Mobility: Willingness to work in remote project areas and be based at field sites
