The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy is seeking a working professional with expertise and a primary professional role in urban planning, climate/sustainability policy, environmental engineering, or a related field. The successful candidate should possess a master’s or doctoral degree in the field of urban planning or a related discipline. The candidate will teach a graduate‑level course related to one or more of the following areas: histories, theories, and concepts in environmental planning; equity and justice issues in environmental planning; practices, policies, and tools in environmental planning. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience and excellent teaching evaluations.

The candidate will teach PPDE 640: Climate, Sustainability and Environmental Planning, a graduate‑level course that addresses global climate change and environmental risks in the urban context, centered on equitability and justice concerns. Through lectures, discussions, case studies, and research presentations, students will explore the roles of planners, governments, and communities in the environmental planning process.

Adjunct instructor responsibilities include delivery of course content, scheduling office hours, accessibility to students, grading, and the preparation of a syllabus outlining course goals, schedule, and all requirements under the direction of the Department Chair.

The hourly rate range for this position is $29.06/hr–$38.89/hr. When extending an offer of employment, the University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, work experience, education/training, key skills, equity, and external market considerations.
