Job Description

MN350 is seeking a Volunteer Treasurer to support its mission of climate justice in Minnesota. Responsibilities include reviewing financial statements, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with tax filings. Ideal candidates should align with MN350's mission, support DEI efforts, and have experience in financial management, preferably with QuickBooks. The role requires a commitment of up to ten hours per month and involves collaboration with the board and Executive Director.
Volunteer Treasurer Position

MN350 is a community-led and volunteer-powered grassroots organization working towards addressing the climate crisis in Minnesota.

Our mission is to unite Minnesotans as part of a global movement to end pollution damaging our climate, speed the transition to clean energy, and create a racially just and healthy future for all.
About MN350 Action

MN350 Action is a 501(4) advocacy nonprofit building a bold, diverse mass movement for climate justice by equipping supporters to effect change at local, municipal, and state levels.

We work collaboratively with numerous coalition partners to build a movement for climate justice and racial justice.
Mission Alignment

The treasurer will play a crucial role in ensuring good fiscal planning, decision-making, and oversight at a governance level.
Treasurer Responsibilities:
• Reviewing monthly or quarterly financial statements with the board
• Monitoring the organization's financial performance and identifying discrepancies between planned and actual figures
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial books and records
• Ensuring timely government tax filings and remittances
• Properly holding and investing excess funds and reserves
• Verifying donation handling and grant accounting with the Executive Director
• Collaborating with the external auditor to address financial control and record-keeping issues
Qualifications:
• Commitment to MN350's mission and strategic directions
• Support for MN350's DEI efforts
• Experience with sound financial management and reporting practices
• Familiarity with QuickBooks
• Understanding of grant management and lobbying reports
• Professional accounting designation (optional)
Time Commitment:

Up to Ten hours per month for board meetings, meetings with the Executive Director, and committee meetings.
