About the Role

Packsize is seeking a self-motivated Payroll Associate - Accounting Lead to join our cohesive accounting team. You will manage the day-to-day payroll accounting and tax operations, ensuring all payroll, tax and benefits are reconciled properly and on time. You will help build strong vendor and team member relationships, support month-end close audits, help facilitate process improvement, and partner across departments to keep processes running smoothly. Your ability to be a proactive problem-solver who takes ownership, anticipates needs, and drives results will be vital in your success in this role. You will play a key role in supporting Packsize's innovative, problem-solving, solution-focused accounting, and HR team environment. This role reports to the Payroll Manager.

What You'll Do

Oversee bi-weekly and semi-monthly funding of payroll, payroll taxes, and garnishments to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payments and cash clearing

Stay up to date on current compliance needs and agency communications and escalate changes needed to Payroll and HR management.

Prepare benefits billing invoices for payment by AP

Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor escalations

Support month-end close activities related to Payroll, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting

Communicate any outstanding benefits needing to be captured in payroll to the payroll team for processing

Support the preparation of audit schedules and respond to auditor requests

Audit and prepare quarterly filings as well as annual year-end W2s

Take ownership and demonstrate strong intuition by anticipating and resolving issues before they affect operations; provide updates to leadership as needed to ensure alignment

Participate in special projects as needed

Job duties may vary depending on accounting and payroll team needs

What You'll Bring

Knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax processes and compliance needs

Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills

High attention to detail paired with a sense of urgency and ownership

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

2+ years of experience in Payroll, including experience with multi-jurisdictional and multi-state taxes

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

Experience in process improvement or automation projects is a plus

Experience with Workday, ADP Smart Compliance, SAP preferred

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Reside in or near Salt Lake City, Utah, with the ability to work in the office four days per week

Ability to work in an office environment; sitting for extended periods and moving about the office

Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds

Repetitive movements

The hourly pay range for this role is $28.9-$34USD.
