Agilitas Energy is seeking an Accounting Manager/Accountant in Wakefield, MA, to support financial processes including monthly close, reconciliations, and audits. The role is open to candidates at Manager or Staff levels, requiring a degree in Accounting or Finance and relevant experience. Responsibilities include collaboration with departments, tax compliance, and mentorship of junior staff. Responsibilities:

All Levels
• Support the monthly and annual close processes, including journal entries and accruals
• Prepare supporting schedules and account reconciliations
• Monitor cash movement and assist with cash, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with audit support, including workpaper preparation and documentation
• Collaborate with internal departments to gather and interpret financial data
• Contribute to special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and process improvements
• Assist with tax filings and compliance (property, sales & use, and income tax support)

Additional Responsibilities for Accounting Manager Level
• Lead and review the month-end close process and senior accountant outputs
• Analyze P&L activity for accuracy and variance explanations
• Review complex reconciliations (intercompany, AR/AP, leases, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with GAAP for leases, AROs, and asset accounting
• Compile reporting packages for lenders, regulators, and other stakeholders
• Oversee audit and tax engagements with external partners
• Manage filing obligations across multiple jurisdictions
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development

Qualifications:

Staff Accountant
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 1–3 years of experience in general accounting; energy industry is a plus
• Solid understanding of accounting principles; Excel proficiency preferred
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills
• Effective communicator and collaborator
• Demonstrated initiative and interest in professional development

Accounting Manager
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
• 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience; CPA and/or energy sector experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP, consolidations, and technical accounting (leases, revenue recognition, etc.)
• Experience preparing financial statements and leading audits
• Strong Excel skills; familiarity with Bill.com, 1099, and payroll is a plus
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and provide leadership to others
