Job Description:

The Accountant I is responsible for the preparation and issuance of complete, reasonable, and reliable financial information. This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial accuracy, complying with regulations, and supporting the company's financial goals.

Responsibilities/Duties:
• Maintain the General Ledger as well as all subsidiary ledgers.
• Prepare financial statements under US GAAP.
• Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Manage Fixed Assets records and depreciation schedules.
• Analyze monthly Budget to Actual variances.
• Review monthly Budget to Actual variances with Operation Managers and the Director of the unit to provide comprehensive information to VP of Accounting and Taxation and identify corrective actions.
• Compile statistical, financial, accounting, and auditing reports related to cash receipts, expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and gains and losses.
• Participate in system implementations to ensure accounting and finance objectives are met.
• Contribute to the annual budget preparation.
• Maintain accounting workpapers.
• Diagnose accounting problems and identify solutions.
• Work directly with the Operations team to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Prepare the required documentation for external audits, including those by banks, financial institutions, and fiscal authorities.
• Lead and perform internal audit activities to guarantee compliance with internal controls and accuracy in accounting records.
• Apply independent judgment and personal initiative to solve problems and recommend solutions to the accounting areas.
• Ensure compliance with deadlines for tax returns and implement new government regulations for accounting and tax purposes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Preferred 1-2 years of accounting experience.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to manage and prioritize large volumes of data and information.
• Self-directed and able to work independently and under pressure, meeting tight deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills, customer service-oriented.
• Detail-oriented, precise, and complete in work.
• Flexibility and a team player.
• Ability to maintain high levels of visual attention and mental concentration during significant periods of time.
• Reliability.
• Knowledge of Accounting, Tax, and Insurance principles and practices.
