Job Description
Energy Impact Partners is seeking an Associate Vice President of Research & Innovation in Power Delivery, based in Atlanta, GA. This role involves leading research and commercialization efforts in electric transmission and distribution, managing relationships with corporate partners, conducting market analysis, and supporting technology growth. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, communication abilities, and a passion for the power system. Exceptional candidates may be considered for the New York office.

EIP is seeking an Associate Vice President of Research & Innovation to spearhead our research and commercialization efforts in Power Delivery (electric transmission & distribution). This individual will be responsible for all 3 pillars of the R&I mission within the Power Delivery sector: (1) convening and managing relationships with the relevant operating leaders in our global corporate partner network, (2) developing proprietary market insights that make us better investors and help our partners see around corners, and (3) supporting the commercialization and growth of technologies in the EIP portfolio.
This is a multifaceted role for a multifaceted person. We are looking for an insatiably curious, analytically-minded candidate with excellent communication skills; commercial savvy; the ability to operate in a chaotic environment with competing priorities; and deep knowledge and passion for the power system.

This role is based in our Atlanta, GA office with secondary consideration to our New York office for exceptional candidates.
Responsibilities:
Generate sector research & insight
• Lead market analysis on a wide variety of topics – synthesizing intel from primary and secondary sources to generate insight that’s simply unavailable anywhere else
• Build investable theses and market landscapes for the most attractive and investable target areas and companies
• Develop credibility as a trusted internal advisor on key trends and markets
• Identify opportunities for emerging technology to have a transformational impact on our corporate partners’ businesses
Collaborate with our deal teams
• Work closely with investment team members in diligence efforts by facilitating feedback from the experts in our strategic partner base and executing in-house market analysis
• Leverage market research and strategic partner relationships to source new investment opportunities
• Present analyses and perspective to investment committee to drive go / no-go decisions
Engage our strategic partners
• Lead working groups of subject matter experts and operational leaders from our strategic partner consortium
• Work hand in hand with partners on building business cases and deployment pathways for the transformational technology in our portfolio
• Present market insights to utility c-suites and T&D leadership, and periodically to external audiences to build your and EIP’s brand
Support our portfolio
• Share actionable insight with our portfolio on market dynamics & opportunities
• Generate high-quality leads for the portfolio based on your knowledge of the objectives and needs of our strategic partners
• Manage the pipeline of commercial opportunities between our T&D portfolio companies and our strategic partners; leverage enterprise sales expertise and EIP relationships and insights to accelerate pipeline velocity
• Advise on product development roadmaps, product positioning, and go-to-market strategy
Requirements
• 4-8 years of professional experience in market analysis; management consulting; corporate strategy; business development; utility operations; or other relevant fields
• Passion for and prior experience in the power delivery / T&D sector; technical understanding of key T&D technology a plus
• A clear understanding of how T&D investment and operations impact utility financials, and how spend is committed in these organizations
• Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to build and maintain deep professional relationships
• Excellent analytical skills and capability to assess complex business cases
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• An independent mindset and intellectual curiosity
• A proven track record of working effectively on a team and being a good teammate
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
