About the position

As a interdisciplinary-team member, the incumbent is responsible for completing architectural history studies and project effects analysis for transportation projects pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and Public Resource Code 5024 and other applicable state and federal regulations. This position is under the supervision of a Project Delivery Branch Chief, Office of Cultural Resource Studies. The incumbent identifies and evaluates built resources as part of the transportation project development process; prepares written analyses of such resources to aid in the project development process; prepares written analysis of project effects on cultural resources; and, develops and recommends avoidance, minimization as needed for compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare written analysis of project effects on cultural resources.

• Develop and recommend avoidance and minimization strategies for compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.

Requirements
• Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

• Must submit unofficial transcripts with application.

• Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.

Nice-to-haves
• Possession of a college degree with a concentration in Archaeology, Anthropology, Native American Studies, Osteology, Cultural Resource Management, Gearchaeology, or a closely related field.

• Demonstrated coursework in California Prehistory or History, American History, and Architectural History.

• Meet the requirements of Professionally Qualified Staff (PQS) Principal Investigator per the Caltrans 106 Programmatic Agreement.
