Job Description

The successful candidate will be a researcher with expertise in data science and artificial intelligence, specializing in climate change adaptation.

The research project aims to develop AI tools that integrate traditional, practitioner, and community knowledge to enhance the design and implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for de-risking hydrometeorological risks.

The key risks of focus are flooding and overheating. The researcher will utilise data from living labs operated by Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and partners across multiple climatic regions rich in climate change and NBS interventions data.

The AI tools developed will blend environmental data with stakeholder and NBS performance data, employing advanced modelling and machine learning algorithms.

The researcher will also conduct site visits, interviews, and fieldwork to collect additional data and immerse themselves in living labs to understand NBS contexts.

The project addresses NBS ownership and sustainability, collaborating with social enterprises to develop long-term plans for NBS interventions.
