Job Description
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking an Administrative Officer III for its Marine Region in California. This role involves supervising administrative functions, managing budgets, contracts, and personnel, while ensuring compliance with relevant laws. The position offers a hybrid telework schedule based on operational needs, with potential travel required within California. The job aims to support the management and protection of California's diverse wildlife.
Do you want to lead a team of hard working and dedicated administrative professionals who support the work of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's (CDFW) Marine Region? CDFW's Marine Region is seeking a motivated and independent individual to work as an Administrative Officer III. Under the general direction of the Marine Region Manager, the Administrative Officer III is responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of the administrative and staff services functions for the Marine Region. In addition to directly supervising an Administrative Officer II and a suite of Associate Governmental Program Analysts and Staff Services Analysts, the incumbent will be responsible for performing the more difficult and/or sensitive analytical and administrative tasks associated with a variety of administrative activities including budgets and fiscal management, grants, contracts, procurement, personnel management, facilities, fleet, safety, and license sales. The incumbent must be familiar with administrative practices and principles and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures required by Department of Fish and Wildlife and other control agencies.
This position will be filled in the following counties: Yolo, Monterey, and Orange.

Working Conditions
Most work will be sitting for long periods of time using a computer keyboard, attending meetings virtual or in-person. May involve walking or standing for brief periods. The position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs and in accordance with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Telework Policy. The Telework Policy is subject to change and telework may fluctuate based on operational needs. Travel may be required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). to attend meetings, work with direct reports statewide, and visit field facilities with rough terrain and wet environments with extremes of heat and cold.
