This full-timerole offers the chance to safeguard and enhance our beautifulislands' natural environment. /n This role has a unique remit forboth terrestrial and marine planning functions as the Team deliversboth the Orkney Local Development Plan and the Orkney IslandsRegional Marine Plan. There will be an opportunity to get involvedin environmental enhancement project work alongside the developmentof environmental planning guidance, the completion of environmentalassessments associated with our Plans and being the Council’s leadadvisor on environmental matters. /n As the Council’s EnvironmentalPlanner you will be the Council’s expert on the environmentallegislation and regulations with particular regard to the ScottishPlanning System. /n Applicants should hold a qualification at SCQFLevel 8/9 (i.e. SVQ4, HND, General Degree, Higher Apprenticeship orTechnical Apprenticeship) in natural environment or a relateddiscipline. Where the essential qualification is not held,applicants should have a minimum of 5 years’ previous relevantexperience of working in the natural environment sector.
