The 252 Environment Assistant at NewSpring Church in Wichita, KS, is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of children during weekend services, maintaining play equipment, and assisting with service preparation. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors the elementary environment during the weekend to ensure safety and security of all children. Maintains the play equipment within the 252 environment. Assists with preparing for and producing the elementary environment weekend services and special events.

The incumbent must perform all job duties as outlined in this job description to support ongoing mission of the church while committed in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 edition).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Assists with monitoring the 252 environment during weekend services, ensuring the environment’s exit doors are monitored at all times. Assists with greeting and engaging kids and parents. Assists with the check-out process. (app. 70%)
• Assists with routine maintenance and cleaning of the elementary environment including play structures, set pieces, and tech equipment. (app. 10%)
• Assists with preparing and loading various tech elements for weekend services. (app.5%)
• Prepares printed parent resources. (app. 5%)
• Facilitates a small group of elementary-age kids during weekend services. (app. 5%)
• Assists with various roles in special events. (app. 5%)

These duties are subject to change as church needs and strategies evolve. Employee may be required to perform other duties.

EDUCATION/TRAINING
• A minimum of a high school diploma is preferred.

EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of one year of experience volunteering or working in a children’s ministry.

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Organization, communication, and coordination skills
• Working knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs
• Ability to learn new software programs
• Ability to deal courteously with the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
• Frequently ascend and descend stairs.
• Frequently remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Communicate verbally with others to exchange information.
• Ability to kneel or bend down to a child's eye level.
• Frequently lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds.
• Frequently observe and monitor environment from long distances.
• Frequently view and operate technological devices, including but not limited to computers, printers, and radios.
• Must possess the ability to work in environments with theatrical elements, including but not limited to strobing lights and fog.
• Quick reaction with movement.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position works primarily indoors.

NewSpring Classification Definitions

Full-time: Set schedule of 30-40 hours/week

Part-time Flex: Set schedule of 15-29 hours/week

Part-time Peak: Set schedule of 5-14 hours/week

Seasonal: Hours & days scheduled are as directed by manager
