Citizens Bank is hiring Summer Analysts for the Debt Capital Markets team in Boston, MA, for a 10-week internship starting May 2026. Interns will engage in investment banking transactions, particularly in leveraged finance, working closely with professionals to gain hands-on experience. Responsibilities include financial analysis, preparing transaction documents, and supporting business origination efforts. Ideal candidates are students graduating between Winter 2026 and Spring 2027 with a minimum GPA of 3.2.

Internship Program Overview

Citizens Bank is seeking Summer Analysts to join the Capital Markets & Advisory (CM&A) team. Through a 10-week internship program, Summer Analysts will work closely with the team’s junior and senior professionals to prepare, analyze, and execute investment banking transactions, primarily within the U.S. middle market. This program is the primary method of sourcing full-time Investment Banking Analyst candidates. Over the course of the summer internship program, Summer Analysts will be assigned to active and prospective engagement teams, gaining exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of an investment banker and growing professionally in a fast-paced environment.

Opportunity Overview

Summer Analysts in the Debt Capital Markets (“DCM”) group will work closely with the team’s junior and senior professionals in originating, structuring, and executing debt capital markets transactions (primarily leveraged finance transactions) for existing and prospective clients of Citizens. These prospects include private equity firms (financial sponsors), as well as public, private and financial sponsor-backed middle market and mid-corporate companies. Summer Analysts in DCM will work across several different industries and will work on live transactions and gain exposure to a variety of debt financing products and structures (including loans and bonds) used in support of acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, dividend recapitalization, and short/long-term debt refinancings.

Summer Analysts play a critical role on their deal teams and interact directly with Managing Directors and other senior management members, other groups within Citizens, client senior management teams, private equity investment teams, and legal counsel.

Responsibilities of the Summer Analysts in DCM will require significant and regular transaction involvement, from origination through closing, as well as the ability to work on multiple projects and transactions concurrently. Typical day-to-day tasks will include contributing to pitchbook creation, internal credit and syndicate screening memorandum, marketing material creation, and other tasks.

Responsibilities

Shared responsibilities across all CM&A functions include:
• Financial Analysis: Financial modeling, comparable company and transaction analyses, leveraged buyout, and other valuation analyses.
• Preparing Information Memoranda and Transaction Documents: Draft key marketing and transaction-related documents.
• Supporting Team Members: Develop new business ideas, pitch strategies, or transaction structuring scenarios to help clients achieve their strategic objectives.
• Preparing Pitch/Business Origination Materials and Presentations: Develop and assemble pitches and presentations and be an integral part of delivering these presentations.

Preferred Qualifications
• Successfully complete a video interview assessment within 7 days of receiving the link. If not completed within the timeframe, your application will be automatically withdrawn from consideration.
• Current students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, graduating between Winter 2026 – Spring 2027.
• Minimum GPA of 3.2; Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.5
• Please include your cumulative GPA on your resume.
• Relevant work experience, leadership experience and coursework in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred but all majors considered.
• Strong analytical skills and software skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
• Candidates must currently be a U.S. Resident to be eligible for this program.
• Please note that U.S. Immigration sponsorship or work visa is not available for intern / full time Analyst positions and candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
