Job Description

The University of California, Davis is seeking lecturers for the Agricultural and Resource Economics Department to teach undergraduate courses in Managerial Economics during the 2025-2026 academic year. Responsibilities include course preparation, lectures, grading, and supervising teaching assistants. The position is based in Davis, CA, and applications are accepted throughout the academic year, with an initial review for internal candidates.
The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis invites applications for lecturer positions to teach courses in its undergraduate Managerial Economics major during the 2025-2026 academic year. Compensation and the duration of the appointment will depend on the number of courses assigned and the number of units per course.

General Information:

The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Davis is recognized nationally and internationally for the quality of its faculty and the strength of its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department’s undergraduate Managerial Economics major is one of the largest on the UC Davis campus. Lecturers are selected to fill specialized positions that require their professional or academic expertise and complement the courses taught by ladder faculty in the major.

ARE 100B – Intermediate Microeconomics: Imperfect Competition, Markets and Welfare Economics

ARE 115A — Economic Development

ARE 106 – Econometric Theory and Applications

ARE 118 - Tax Accounting

ARE 119 – Intermediate Managerial Accounting

ARE 136 – Managerial Marketing

ARE 143 — Investments

ARE 150 - Agricultural Labor

ARE 155 - Operations Research and Management Science

ARE 157 – Analysis for Operations and Production Management

ARE 171- Principles of Finance

ARE 172- Financial Management of the Firm

Responsibilities:

Teach one or more undergraduate courses in the Managerial Economics major, depending on programmatic need and the candidate’s experience and availability. Duties will include full responsibility for course preparation and presentation, including but not limited to, lectures, preparation and grading of exams, office hours outside of class, and supervision of teaching assistants or readers if assigned.

Service Dates:

Fall Quarter 2025: September 22, 2025– December 12, 2025

Winter Quarter 2026: January 2, 2026 – March 20, 2026

Spring Quarter 2026: March 26, 2026 – June 11, 2026

Salary:

Salary commensurate with qualifications, education, experience and course load.

However, to guarantee consideration, applications should be received by the “Initial Review Date” for the 2025-26 academic year. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter with course preferences and quarters available, three letters of recommendation, a curriculum vita, and evidence of teaching proficiency. First review will be for internal applicants who had an appointment in 2024-2025. If we do not make a hire from the internal applicants, we will consider external applicants who applied by the “Initial Review Date”. If we do not make a hire from the internal or external applicants who applied by the “Initial Review Date”, then an additional review date can be used and all applicants at that point are considered at the same time regardless of whether or not they are internal or external.

These positions are covered by collective bargaining agreement.
