Pattern Energy is seeking a Summer Intern for Operations Supply Chain in Houston, TX. The internship, lasting 10-12 weeks, offers hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector, focusing on wind energy sourcing. Interns will conduct data analysis, assist in category management, and promote sustainable sourcing practices. This role aims to develop skills in analytics and procurement while contributing to the company's mission of advancing renewable energy.

JOB PURPOSE

Pattern Energy is excited to hire our summer 2024 Interns! Pattern’s Summer Internship Program gives undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience to develop technical skills, as well as a better understanding of the renewable industry. This internship program will run for approximately 10-12 weeks and include a formal welcome, mentorship opportunities, and executive exposure. This is one way that Pattern Energy supports the larger renewable community and invests in the next generation of great minds.

The Wind Energy Sourcing Intern will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission Pattern by applying analytical expertise and category management principles to optimize procurement strategies within the dynamic and specialized field of wind energy. Through focused data analysis, category management initiatives, and sustainable sourcing practices, the intern will contribute to the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability of our wind energy projects. This role is designed to provide a unique learning experience for individuals passionate about renewable energy, fostering skills in analytics, category management, and sustainable procurement within the context of the wind energy sector.

Key Accountabilities

Data Analysis and Insights
• Conduct thorough data analysis specific to the wind energy sector, identifying trends, cost-saving opportunities, and performance metrics.
• Generate actionable insights to support strategic decision-making in wind energy sourcing.

Data Analysis and Insights
• Collaborate with the category management team to contribute to the development and implementation of category strategies tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities in wind energy.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of category-specific documentation and records.

Sustainable Sourcing Practices
• Apply analytical skills to ensure that sourcing practices align with sustainability goals and environmental standards.
• Contribute to the integration of eco-friendly technologies and materials in sourcing processes

Supplier Relationship Management
• Assess and monitor supplier performance within the wind energy sector, ensuring alignment with quality and sustainability standards.
• Support negotiations with suppliers, applying data-driven approaches to secure optimal terms and agreements.

Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of wind energy sourcing activities, contacts, and agreements.
• Generate regular reports and presentations to communicate insights, progress, and opportunities to key stakeholders.

Cross-functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sourcing and category management strategies with broader company objectives.
• Contribute ideas to enhance sustainability efforts and improve operational efficiency.

Professional Development
• Actively engage in learning opportunities and training sessions to enhance skills in wind energy sourcing, analytics, and category management.
• Seek feedback and apply learnings to continuously improve performance.

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

Specialized Data Analysis
• Conduct in-depth data analysis tailored to the wind energy sector, examining key performance indicators and industry-specific metrics.
• Identify trends and opportunities for cost optimization, efficiency improvements, and sustainable sourcing practices.

Category Management in Wind Energy
• Collaborate with the category management team to understand and apply principles specific to wind energy sourcing.
• Assist in the development of category strategies aligned with the unique challenges and innovations in the wind energy industry.

Sustainable Procurement
• Leverage analytical insights to support sustainable procurement practices, ensuring our sourcing aligns with environmental goals and renewable energy standards.
• Contribute to initiates that promote the integration of eco-friendly technologies and materials in our sourcing processes.

Supplier Relationship Management
• Assess and monitor supplier performance within the wind energy sector, facilitating strategic relationships to support the growth and success of our projects.
• Participate in negotiations with suppliers, applying data-driven approaches to secure optimal terms and agreements.

Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain comprehensive records of wind energy sourcing activities, ensuring +accuracy and compliance with industry regulations.
• Generate detailed reports and presentations to communicate insights, progress, and opportunities to key stakeholders.

Cross-functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sourcing and category management strategies with broader company objectives.
• Contribute innovative ideas to enhance sustainability efforts and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications
• Passion for learning.
• Currently enrolled in a related field of study, e.g., Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Business Analytics, or related discipline at an accredited institution.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools.
• Passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
• Familiarity with category management principles and strategic sourcing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis software.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Eagerness to learn and apply analytical skills to optimize category management processes in the wind energy industry.
