The 10th Grade Environmental Science Teacher at Algiers Charter is responsible for fostering a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes student achievement and growth. This position is part of a continuous improvement cycle that emphasizes planning, doing, reflecting, and revising teaching practices. Teachers at Algiers Charter are expected to participate in the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP), which aims to attract, develop, and retain talented educators. The role requires a commitment to professional learning and development, with teachers attending yearly professional development sessions, faculty meetings, and cluster meetings to enhance their instructional strategies and student engagement techniques. In this position, teachers will create and implement common core aligned lesson plans and unit plans that lead to mastery of standards and expectations. They will engage students in meaningful learning experiences, ensuring that all students are actively participating in lessons from start to finish. The teacher will be responsible for maintaining a classroom environment where students follow behavioral expectations, execute transitions efficiently, and engage in academic discussions. The role also involves assessing student progress through various tasks and assessments, providing opportunities for students to express their learning and understanding of the content. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student success, possess a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate, and have a proven record of high student achievement. Responsibilities
• Attend yearly professional development sessions including faculty and grade-level meetings.

• Engage in job-embedded professional development focused on student strategies and work analysis.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related area of study.

• Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with Louisiana Certification preferred.

• Two years of teaching experience preferred.

• Proven record of high student achievement as listed on previous evaluations and Compass scores (highly preferred).
