Thesuccessful candidate will play a crucial role in designing anddeveloping photovoltaic systems for both ground and roofinstallations, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Thisposition requires a strong background in electrical engineering andsolar energy, with proficiency in using design software and tools.The Solar Design Engineer will collaborate closely with projectmanagers and installation teams to deliver innovative solar powersolutions to clients across the United Kingdom, meeting theirenergy needs and contributing to a sustainable future. KeyResponsibilities: • Design and develop solar energy systems,including photovoltaic (PV), and battery installation &configuration • Perform technical analysis and simulations tooptimize system performance and energy yield • Oversee the entireproject lifecycle, from initial concept through to commissioningand handover, ensuring projects are completed on time and withinbudget • Ensure all projects comply with planning and/or Gridapproval, including obtaining necessary permissions, relevantapprovals, and engineering recommendations • Engage with theengineering and design team, manufacturers, consultants, andcontractors to ensure seamless project execution • Produce bespoketechnical drawings, including block plans, string designs, detaileddrawings, electrical schematics, and inverter simulations • Findsolutions to complicated engineering problems, ensuring the higheststandards of workmanship and system performance • Implement qualitycontrol measures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship andsystem performance • Prepare detailed engineering reports, projectdocumentation, and as-built drawings Qualifications: • RelevantQualification or experience in Electrical Engineering, MechanicalEngineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field • Minimum of 3years of experience in solar project engineering or a related field• Extensive knowledge of commercial and utility-scale PV •Proficiency in solar design software (e.g., PV Sol/PVsyst,Helioscope), AutoCAD, MS Suite, QGIS, and other relevant onlinedesign tools • Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevantcertifications are a plus • A full UK driving license with amaximum of 3 points Skills: • Strong technical proficiency inelectrical and mechanical systems • Exceptional analytical andproblem-solving abilities to address complex engineering challenges• Excellent attention to detail • Ability to work in a fast-pacedenvironment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously • Awareness ofindustry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements •Demonstrates a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure projectsuccess and client satisfaction and maintains a flexible andadaptable mindset, ready to take on new tasks and responsibilitiesas needed • Understanding of how to integrate solar systems withthe electrical grid • Excellent verbal and written communicationskills to collaborate with team members, clients, and stakeholders• Shows enthusiasm for continuous learning and professionaldevelopment in the field of solar energy Benefits: • An excellentstarting salary • 20 days annual leave, private health insurance,enhanced maternity leave, company pension scheme and more •Opportunities for professional development and career growth • Bepart of a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to making apositive impact on the environment If you are passionate aboutrenewable energy and have the skills necessary for this role, weencourage you to apply by sending your CV and Cover Letter torecruitment(at)solarsouthwest.co.uk.
