CMS Communications and Management for Sustainability is seeking a Senior Fisheries Consultant for marine and freshwater projects. This full-time role is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement (remote and in-office). Candidates should have a relevant postgraduate degree and at least five years of experience in fisheries and aquaculture management. Responsibilities include project implementation and management, with opportunities for overseas travel.

Aboutthis job We are currently seeking a Senior Fisheries Consultant towork on marine and freshwater fisheries and aquaculture projects.This is a full-time position based in central-London, operatingunder a hybrid working arrangement (remote and in-office), withopportunities for overseas travel. Applicantsshould demonstrate a strong interest in the sustainable use andmanagement of fisheries, aquaculture and associated ecosystems inan area relevant to MRAG (see https://www.mrag.co.uk/ ). The idealcandidate will have a relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. inaquatic resource management, aquaculture, fisheries ecology, stockassessment, modelling, fisheries economics, socioeconomics) with aminimum of five years’ professional experience. As a SeniorConsultant, your primary role will be to implement projects withinMRAG’s portfolio. However, you will also be expected to contributeat any stage of the project cycle from tendering to implementation.Experience managing a diverse project portfolio and an establishednetwork of contacts is essential. Proficiency in additionallanguages is an advantage. Required experience and skills include:- Postgraduate degree in marine biology, fisheries science oranother relevant subject. - Minimum of 5 years’ professionalexperience in renewable natural resources management, with a focuson fisheries and aquaculture sector. - Taking responsibility forthe full project cycle, including contractual and budgetingaspects. - Proven experience in new business development and anestablished network of relevant contacts, ideally gained in aconsultancy environment. - Experience in managing project teams. -Excellent written, presentation and quantitative analytic skills,with a track record of producing high quality outputs. - Broadgeographic experience in projects related to fisheries andaquaculture. - Strong communication skills, both within teams andwith clients and project partners. Additional languages would bedesirable but not essential. - Ability to multitask, working onseveral projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines. -Knowledge of fisheries and climate change, ecosystem approach tofisheries management, the blue economy or marine spatial planningwould be desirable, but not essential.
