Department: Climate & Nature Solutions : AdvisoryEmployment Type: Permanent - Full TimeLocation: United StatesCompensation: $102,000 - $131,000 / yearPrincipal Consultant - GHG Accounting Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities We are a leading and innovative provider of corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting services (Scopes 1, 2 and 3). Our team of over 100 practitioners delivers services worldwide, helping clients calculate supply chain and Scope 3 emissions, shape accounting practices, and support their net‑zero journeys. We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Consultant to support our GHG Accounting and Reporting service in North America. Your role will involve delivering consulting projects, developing client inventories of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and driving business development efforts across diverse industries, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to boutique brands and start‑ups. You will collaborate with expert teams, provide technical guidance and advisory services, and help grow client relationships while maintaining high quality and adherence to timelines and budgets.Key Responsibilities Support and lead the delivery of GHG inventory services, including operational Scope 1+2 and value chain Scope 3 inventories, flag GHG accounting, voluntary and regulated compliance advisory, benchmarking, and information system and data planning using Anthesis’ proprietary GHG accounting platform, Anthesis Route Zero, and additional tools.Manage multiple projects concurrently across their lifecycle, ensuring high value to clients, on‑time delivery, and adherence to budget constraints.Draft reports and presentations that convey key messages and inform strategic decision‑making.Provide guidance and technical leadership to clients and colleagues on leading practices, standards, and trends; incorporate this knowledge into consulting projects, proposals and new service development.Develop and deliver proposals with client managers; generate leads with existing clients, understanding client business and creative scopes of work to achieve their sustainability goals.Lead and cultivate client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact and building a trusted advisor relationship focused on helping clients reach their sustainability objectives.Engage with the global expert community to evolve and create new service product offerings and solutions related to GHG accounting.Help oversee the implementation of quality‑management processes within the GHG Accounting service line and conduct QA/QC reviews of GHG inventories.Perform line‑management responsibilities for direct reports, including performance reviews, goal setting, mentorship and career‑path guidance.Key Requirements & Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseBachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, mathematics, engineering, science, economics or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.8+ years of experience in corporate GHG emissions accounting across multiple sectors, either in‑house or in a consultancy environment.Proficiency in calculating and reporting Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, with demonstrated experience in inventory boundaries, renewable energy accounting, supply‑chain emissions (EEIO, LCA, supplier‑specific data); additional experience with flag emissions preferred.Understanding of Life Cycle Assessments and Product Carbon Footprints.Familiarity with carbon accounting and reporting standards and programs (e.g., ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, TCR).Knowledgeable about current and emerging policy and regulatory drivers of GHG emissions disclosure and management in North America and globally.Experience with carbon management enterprise software solutions.Demonstrated project‑management skills.Experience with third‑party audits of GHG inventories and with auditors/assurance providers.Experience in broader ESG strategy, data analytics, and/or preparation of corporate disclosures (CDP, GRI, SASB) a plus.Personal Attributes and QualitiesExperience as client manager preferred.Ability to work and influence all levels of an organization, driving decisions and direction through influence, including senior…
