Founded in 1987, Northland has a long history of developing, building, owning and operating clean and green power infrastructure assets and is a global leader in offshore wind. In addition, Northland owns and manages a diversified generation mix including onshore renewables, solar and efficient natural gas energy, as well as supplying energy through a regulated utility.

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with global offices in eight countries, Northland owns or has an economic interest in 2.7 GW (net 2.3 GW) of operating generating capacity and a significant inventory of early to mid-stage development opportunities encompassing 4 to 5 GW of potential capacity.

Northland is currently developing 2 large offshore wind projects in Taiwan. To facilitate this growth Northland is looking for a controller Taiwan.###

What you’ll do:

The purpose of this role is to set up and manage the finance function for the legal entities of Northland in Taiwan which support the offshore wind projects in terms of financing, staffing as well as new project developments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Set up and manage finance process for 4 Taiwanese entities of Northland including:

    • Financial accounting both under IFRS and local GAAP
    • Management accounting
    • Tax accounting
    • Financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee to day accounting (currently outsourced to external accounting firm)

  • Provide forecasts and cash flow analysis and organise funding from shareholders

  • Implement and manage an internal control framework to ensure sufficient control over internal processes and financial reporting

  • Manage external audits and follow up on audit findings

  • Creation of budgets.

  • Provide continuous analysis of expenditure relative to project budgets and forecasts.

  • Support management with financial analysis and any other financial support as required.

Who you are:

  • Diligent: you naturally work in a methodical way and relish the opportunity to add structure and order to your work.
  • Flexible: You are agile in your approach to your work and working hours, as there will occasionally be a requirement to work alongside colleagues in other countries
  • Pragmatic and result driven: You are hands on, love getting involved in the detail and create solutions.

Qualifications and experience

  • B.Sc., M.Sc., or other relevant degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • All-round finance professional having experience in financial accounting, management accounting, treasury and internal control.
  • Knowledge of local Taiwanese (tax) accounting and preferably IFRS.
  • Experience in budgeting and accounting
  • Fluent in both Chinese and English language
  • Strong communication skills and able to interact with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders and counterparties
  • 7+ years of relevant industry work experience and/or similar position (Oil & Gas or Renewable energy industries – Offshore wind preferable)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word etc.
