SRO Licensed Training Instructor

The South Texas Project Electric Generating Station is one of the newest and largest nuclear power facilities in the nation. **Summary:** This position is responsible for developing, administering, and documenting training programs for both initial licensing and requalification of Reactor Operators and Senior Reactor Operators.

**Education:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical Training required for SRO license or certification

**Experience:**

  • Current or previous SRO license or certification
  • 4 years of power plant experience, with 3 years in commercial nuclear power plant experience
  • Participation in power operations, refueling, and power ascension on a commercial nuclear power plant
  • 30 hours of college credit in an engineering discipline can substitute for 1 year of experience
  • Westinghouse NRC exam writing experience

**Preferred Essential Duties & Responsibilities:**

  • Conduct assigned training, including simulator training
  • Participate in all training program phases including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Develop, prepare, and revise lesson plans and reference materials
  • Evaluate training programs for improvement opportunities
  • Participate in developmental opportunities to enhance job performance
  • Conduct periodic comprehensive training assessments
  • Participate in benchmarking and industry working groups

**Skills Knowledge and Qualifications:**

  • Ability to solve thermodynamic and fluid flow equations using algebra and trigonometry
  • Qualification for unescorted access to the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station
  • Maintain instructor certifications as per regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of federal and industry regulations for training programs
  • Strong communication skills for written reports and verbal presentations
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer and software for training materials
  • Ability to operate and maintain plant equipment
