Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We are looking for mechanical engineers who want to be a part of our team designing and testing remote piloted aircraft.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise a team of avionics test engineers
  • Review proposals and estimate future work
  • Develop environmental test plans from requirements
  • Flow down requirements from the aircraft level to the individual component level
  • Manage and coordinate testing ensuring execution to your plan
  • Work with the cross-functional team to respond to and recover from any failures that occur
  • Report results of testing and recommend design improvements as appropriate
  • Juggle more than one test program at a time and track changing schedules and priorities
  • Design test fixtures
  • Assess environmental compliance of off-the-shelf components
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Progressive engineering experience
  • Thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory
  • Ability to develop and communicate new concepts
  • Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Some travel may be required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required
  • A Professional Engineering License and original work published in professional engineering journals are desirable
