What do Kiva Volunteer Team Leaders do?

• Lead a team of up to 35 volunteer translators and/or editors
• Motivate and support team members to encourage consistent loan review
• Support a diverse and multicultural community of volunteers worldwide
• Foster connections between the volunteer community and Kiva headquarters
• Act as the first line of support to keep Kiva's processes efficient
• Write and post weekly team updates
• Develop creative approaches to strengthen team engagement
• Maintain regular email contact with team members
• Promote the use of Kiva's resources and escalate questions to Kiva staff
• Monitor team productivity
• Exchange ideas and perspectives with other Volunteer Team Leaders and Kiva staff
• Create, document, and share best practices for future Volunteer Team Leaders

Successful candidates must:

• Be proficient in written English
• Commit 4-6 hours a week for 13 months
• Attend 2-3 conference calls annually
• Be organized, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines
• Be comfortable working remotely and using basic office applications
• Have experience or skills in volunteer management or team collaboration
• Preferably have proficiency in Spanish, Russian, French, or Portuguese
• Be at least 18 years old and willing to sign a volunteer agreement

Requirements:

• Access to a computer (online platform not mobile-friendly)
• Willingness to sign a volunteer agreement and media release
• Willingness to work remotely
• Successful completion of language assessment and interview process
• Training for the role begins in late July/August 2024 after evaluation
